Change?Naira falls to all time low against Dollar @ N445 to $1
The Naira yesterday fell further against the dollar, as it exchanged for a record low at N445 per dollar in the parallel market. With inflation running at 17.6 percent and oil trading $46 per barrel, acute shortage of foreign exchange has taken its toll on the currency.Traders said that speculators and strong demand from parents buying dollars to pay school fees abroad are putting pressure on the Nigerian currency, though the president of the association of bureau de change operators, Aminu Gwadabe, said the rate is not a true reflection of the market.“The market is being driven by speculators who are taking advantage of the poor implementation of central bank policy requiring banks to sell dollars to bureau de change operators to ease pressure in the market,” Gwadabe told Reuters, adding that most commercial lenders are reluctant to comply with the directive. The central bank’s instruction accompanied its licensing of 11 new international money transfer operators last month in its efforts to boost dollar supply. The Naira exchange rate on the official interbank market was flat at 305 to the dollar.

This is why I am asking the state government to desist from erasing our symbols on public structures because it is a total waste of resources and time. They should instead channel the funds to reviving education which they have allowed to deteriorate,” he said.
He added that if the government insists on deleting all Kwankwassiya logos in the state, then they should be prepared to establish a whole ministry to carry out the exercise because it is an impossible task.“You should remain steadfast in your belief in Kwankwaso; they can’t take that away from you. The time will come when your votes will be more than dollars. That is when we will ask you to follow a certain direction to change your destinies,” he said.

National Embarrassement!President Buhari under fire after Obama Speech Theft bust...Director blamed
Following the National embarrassment generated by the Plagiarism Scandal, involving President Buhari, the presidency today Friday admitted to the plagiarism charge and blamed an unnamed “deputy director” for the intellectual property theft. President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday directed that appropriate disciplinary action be taken against those responsible for a plagiarized insertion in his speech delivered on September 8, 2016 at the launch of the “Change Begins With Me” campaign in Abuja, a statement by presidential spokesperson Garba Shehu has disclosed. In a Facebook post, Garba Shehu wrote: “It was observed that the similarities between a paragraph in President Obama’s 2008 Victory Speech and what President Buhari read in paragraph nine of the sixteen-paragraph address while inaugurating the Campaign on Thursday, September 8, 2016 are too close to be passed as coincidence.” “There was a mistake by an overzealous staff and we regret that this has happened.“Already, a deputy director in the Presidency has accepted responsibility for the insertion of the contentious paragraph. This serious oversight will be investigated thoroughly and appropriate sanction meted.“The presidency wishes to state in the clearest possible terms that it regrets this unfortunate incident and will ensure that this does not happen again.“President Buhari urges Nigerians to look beyond this incident and focus on the message of change, which the country needs in order to restore our cherished value systems,” the statement said.
