Drama:Edo Women Mobilize to Vote PDP in forthcoming Election after 'Prostitute' Tag by Obaseki's Wife

Women drawn from different organisations at a meeting in Benin City have called out Mrs. Betty Obaseki, the wife of the APC candidate over a statement, credited to her in which she faulted past PDP administrations for contributing to the problem of prostitution among the women of the state, thereby referring to them as prostitutes. They also asked her to tender an unreserved apology in all national dailies even as they called on all women in the state to rally round the PDP governorship candidate in the governorship election because he has demonstrated through the conduct and utterances of his wife, Idia, a University Professor, that he is a caring husband, father, and pastor. Addressing the women, Deaconess Regina Oviasu said that it was worrisome that the same woman that wants to lead Edo women has tagged them prostitutes. She said, "I want to stand and say that Mrs. Obaseki should apologise to all Edo women as mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters for the statement she made. She does not know Edo women. An Edo woman has integrity. She commands respect. She is hardworking. I think it's a slip of the tongue on her part, and she must apologise".
