Ohakim: They Can’t Find Anything.

As war of superiority rages in Imo between the state government and immediate past regime, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Gozie Anwuka, has disclosed that the Rochas Okorocha led administration would soon make open how the former governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, allegedly misappropriated the state funds while in office.
But in a swift reaction, the former governor through his aide, Dr. Ethelbert Okere, in a telephone interview lambasted the present government, describing it as a directionless administration without a road map, even as he regarded his regime as one of the best in the country.
Anwuka, who spoke with members of the Correspondence Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in his office in Owerri Thursday, accused the Ohakim-led government of wasting public funds, which left the state with high indebtedness, adding that the Okorocha regime had cleared all the debts.
The SSG, who could not give accurate account of the debts paid when asked, only said: “the governor has been able to pay off all the indebtedness caused by the past governor that is why we are being starved.”
Describing himself as the hub of the administration that holds the key, he vowed not to allow those who mismanaged the resources of the state to come and dictate for them, adding “as the hub of the administration, I hold the key that locked out those characters that had mismanaged the resources of the state. They are refugees who now left Imo to reside in Abuja in shame and from there they are blowing their trumpet of lies.”
He maintained that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had never won any election in the state since after Chief Achike Udenwa, as Ohakim did not win election as a PDP person but PPA.
According to him, Okorocha won his election overwhelmingly because he had a model leadership for the state which was close to what the people wanted.
On the statement credited to the Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Senator Ahmed Gulak, Anwuka expressed disgust saying that his statement was an insult to the sensibilities of Imo people.
He said “for an errant boy from Abuja to insult on the sensibility of Imo people to impeach the governor is the most stupid statement from the Presidential Political Adviser.”
He also accused those who contested election under the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the state as lacking in vision for the Igbos but to promote the Yoruba agenda because according to him Igbos are for APGA that stands for her unity.
The SSG maintained that the recent state House of Assembly re-run election for Oguta State Constituency which Eugene Dibiagwu of the PDP won was against the earlier decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which had annulled the election in the local government of April 26, 2011.
“INEC announced that the Oguta election was cancelled and a court somewhere ruled otherwise. Court has no jurisdiction to decide whether election is credible or not. It is INEC. The power solely is invested on INEC”, he said, adding “the PDP knows that if Dibiagwu is sworn in, they would regard the entire election in Oguta as legitimate and since the matter is still in court through the ACN governorship candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, they would hold it against us.”
He also disclosed that in the effort of the government to ensure that all the roads in the state took their normal shape by end of the year, government has assigned all the local government roads to their members in the state House of Assembly.
