An entrepreneurial young baker has found fame through her lifelike cake replicas of famous faces, including the Duchess of Cambridge, Johnny Depp and Yoda. She’s even created one for the Go Compare opera singer.
Lara Clarke’s kitchen is constantly filled with the incredible iced figures which are hand crafted and take hours of intensive labour to achieve their realistic effect.Ms Clarke, who paints the figures with food colouring, said: ‘When Kate Middleton announced her pregnancy I created a white chocolate topper of the Duchess in celebration.
‘I wanted to show that I could make anybody out of chocolate, and she’s so pretty it was a lovely challenge. Off the back of her success Ms Clarke has launched her own bakery business, claiming: ‘I get quite a lot of crazy cake requests, mostly for birthdays or weddings.
‘I once made a full dog head cake for a woman who wanted to celebrate her dog’s birthday.’
