NASARAWA:ILLEGAL DEDUCTION FROM SALARY ENDS, AS AL-MAKURA BOWS TO WORKFORCE

Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has officially bowed to pressure from NLC, and has stopped the illegal deductions from workers’ salaries. The National President of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Waba, disclosed this on Tuesday in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital while addressing workers at the state labour house. He explained that after the intervention of the Nigerian Human Rights Commission, NHRC, on the on going strike in the state and the protest that led to the killing of two workers, Al-makura  has acceded to demands of NLC and the recommendation of NHRC to immediately stop the controversial deduction of workers salaries and to also compensate families of the slained victims.Wabba then disclosed to the workers that the state government had officially written  a letter to the leadership of the union informing them of their decision to henceforth stop the illegal deduction of their salaries. Recall, the leadership of the NLC had earlier declared August 23rd as a national protest day over the death of workers killed on July 29 and the deduction from workers’ salaries in the state.
